The emotional rollercoaster of the breast cancer survivorship journey often takes a backseat to chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and other treatment. Yet, meaningful support for survivors’ emotional and mental health needs is critically important and can impact health and the healing process. We are committed to providing safe space for survivors to focus on the emotional side of their survivorship journey.
The quality of care and attention received from their healthcare providers can impact survivors’ emotional well-being and their overall outlook of their survivorship journey. Workshops, trainings, speaking engagements, and organizational practice and program consultations are offered to improve providers’ understanding of survivors’ emotional needs and the quality of services. On an organizational or program basis, we use a trauma-informed perspective to analyze how healthcare services can improve survivorship care holistically.
Support groups can be an important resource for breast cancer survivors, decreasing feelings of isolation and increasing connection through a meaningful support network. We can facilitate support groups and wellness workshops for healthcare organizations and programs serving survivors.
